Saudi Arabia hosts a bunch of restricted range Saudi/Yemen specialities confined to the south-west corner of the country. On this self-guided trip I found all my targets easily, including the only Saudi endemic, the Asir Magpie. The highlands in Asir were cool and pleasant and birds were showy. Highlights include an overnight stay in Farasan Islands for Sooty Falcons, terns and seabirds (send a PM for arrangements) but a short post extension north of Riyadh fell short since the Arabian Larks seemed to have disappeared from the well known sites. The first 6 photos represent some of the most interesting species on the trip. The rest will follow in chronological order.
