Sapphire-vented Puffleg
Eriocnemis luciani
Yanacocha Reserve, Pichincha, Ecuador - January 6 2014
When I found this photo it struck me that this bird might be the rare Black-breasted Puffleg (Eriocnemis nigrivestis) due to the shortish tail and dark appearance. But I guess it's not. Black-breasted Pufflegs never has blue gloss on their crown, or do they? And tail seems a bit too long after all?
